Spread the Good Word

In each issue of Organic Spa Magazine we feature a person or a company that is giving back. There are so many wonderful people and organizations performing caring and thoughtful deeds that we decided to create a special blog category to help spread the good word. If you know of someone who fits the bill, blog away!

Great – keep up the great work.
What other charities does Organic Spa Magazine support? And what will you be featuring in the next issue?

    Hi Tim,

For starters, we’ve partnered with a company that works with Sustainable Harvest International and Trees for the Future. Each time someone subscribes to Organic Spa Magazine, we’ll plant a tree (these include banana, orange, cedar, teak, mahogany, oak, acacia, laurel, and eucalyptus) for that person. We believe this is a pretty neat way to give back. We also support Ocean Champions, Clean Water Fund, Oceana, and The One Lap Top per Child program.

Mary so fine to be introduced to your exciting journal.

Please take a look when you can at the work of Jody Taylor and
the Laura Jepsen Institute, in Florida.
Almost singlehandedly, this tiny non-profit of fans of the visionary
Laura Pauline Jepsen are continuing her legacy of saving an ancient
oak tree, which was a sapling in the time of Shakespeare.
Jepsen, a world-traveling classic professor, devoted her life to
good causes, including donations to Native American tribes & efforts to save the tallgrass prairies of the West.
In Florida she bought three acres just to save a tree she fell in love with. Today it is an enrolled member of The Live Oak Society (another subject for the journal.) The site has been surrounded by urban development & it is an oasis for all. It features her charming cottage she had an artisan hand-craft.

    Please see http://www.lichgate.org.

I would be happy to speak with you more about these subjects.

Almost 20 years on, well before buzz words like “going green”, “organic” and “carbon footprint” became topical, Susie Hewson, founder and owner of Natracare dared to challenge corporate giants by creating her own range of feminine hygiene without the use of environmental pollutants such as chlorine bleaching or plastic. Her product line is now sold in over 46 counties around the world and is made from plant based and certified organic cotton materials from sustainable resources.   They are biodegradable and compostable. Natracare is the first company in the world to achieve an EPD (Environmental Product Declaration).Susie was the recipient of the 2008 Women in Ethical Business award. http://www.natracare.com

    Dear Mary,

I would like to introduce our company ECO-FRIENDLY MARKET which one of our three Missions and Principles is GIVING BACK.

Aside from focusing on eco-friendly products, our main goal is to be able to change the lives of the poor people especially women in developing countries like the Philippines. By supporting our artisans with financial resources and training, we are able to help
them create a sustainable business that will provide them with vital and fair income. We work directly with the artisans, women’s cooperative who would otherwise be unemployed. Their
income derived from working with us helps their families pay for food, housing, education and health care.

With our “Helping Hand” program, we wish to invite companies to share their concepts, products and any other form that will help us achieve our goal. Together, we can minimize if not eliminate poverty around us.

For more information on our Giving Back projetcs, please email us at : michaelmaslog@ecofriendlymarket.net
