Peace of Mind

Simply Technology

The simpler we try to make our lives it seems technology will always have a certain power over us. As you might have noticed all of my February posts have been deleted as a result of a technical/website error. I could kick and scream or I can practice a more relaxing technique and take a deep breathe while I try to recover them. Since I am on a mission to simplifying my life and reducing stress this should make for great practice. Hold on for those important posts and enjoy your weekend in the most relaxing way possible. I am starting mine off with a bath and a walk with my boy yorkie.

2010-The New Year

is when new year resolutions are on the minds of many people. Since I believe fresh starts are important, here are my personal new year resolutions for 2010.

Copenhagen Climate Conference

The Copenhagen Climate Conference serves as a reminder to all nations that our environmental problems are not going to go away. Even after the conference has ended, there is still the feeling that not enough is being done to educate the public about the realities of our problems. Make a resolution to do your part for the environment in 2010.

Sweet treat-Apples, honey & cinnamon

What is a country girl at heart to do when she misses the simple things of country in a big city? Make a sweet country treat of course. Apples, honey & cinnamon. To top it off cover in caramel dip. Sounds sweet enough to me. If you prefer you can bake the apples or cook and stir in a simple sauce. In an downward economy it is the simple things that provide us with the biggest smile.

You are Beautiful

I have seen way too many YouTube videos about anorexia lately and I cannot seem to stop thinking about all the girls/women out there who are struggling and suffering from anorexia or bulimia. Beauty=health+happiness. If you have neither then what is the point. Life is too fragile and precious to waste it away on what others think, live by your own rules and cherish your body like the temple it is. You only have ONE.

Let me keep my plastic bag

Every day plastic bags are being changed and thrown out. Wherever I end up working I make sure my plastic garbage bag does not get throw out, however it seems this simple request is served with a crazy look from those around me. Why is being green so crazy, it should not even be called green but a given and common sense. It takes 10-20 years for a plastic bag to break down, imagine all the homes and big/small offices out there changing every single bag every day. That is a lot of plastic.

Organic or not so Organic

It has come to my attention that sometimes there are products which are not 100% organic yet they receive the attention as if they were. To that I have to say, the effort should be enough but is not fare to other brands which make a strong effort to be certified and 100% organic. If you know of a product, individual or a brand that is worthy of attention please let me know. Did I mention I love handmade things.

I love yoga

Don’t forget that September is a National Yoga month. Free classes are being given out by participating yoga studios and organizations such as the Yoga Health Foundation.

"More Than Just Yoga"

In that past the Omega Institute’s annual Being Yoga conference has been held in large cities. Now that it has been announced that the 2009 conference is going to be held in their more rural Rhinebeck campus, yoga can be celebrate in a more realistic environment. Let the yoga philosophy of public service, peace and wellness begin. The dates are August 21 through 23.

The Green Real Estate market

When renting or buying any forward thinking individual will want to consider a home that is eco conscious. Today individuals have the option to go with a regular real estate broker or an eco one. Which one would you chose?
