There is a reason Justin Timberlake was voted the most eco conscious celebrity of the year. He has plans to open an environmentally friendly gold course. Justin owns property in Tennessee and this is where the gold course is being revamped and opening on July 25th.

The Mirimichi golf course is sitting on property that was going to be rebuilt into commercial space until Justin stepped in and saved the space. The total revamp cost totals $16 million and is the first eco-friendly gold course to be certified by the Audubon Classic Sanctuary Program. Justin has had a passion for gold since he was a teen and the fact that he is an Eco celebrity this only makes sense. The singer has already tried out the gold course but has not played all the holes just yet. We love a celebrity who gives back and is conscious of the environment around them.

A while back I did an interview with Amanda Judge and the Andean Collection. As an advocate for the poor in South America Amanda continues to visit the places and people she strives to help and in turn brings us the best of their natural and organic beauty. She brings us natural jewelry that is inspired by the people and places she visits. Each piece is unique and inspired by something specific that touches the lives of the locals. Amanda has sent me images from her last visit to Ecuador and I wanted to share them here. The Andean Collection is also offering a discount to our readers that is valid from today until July 22nd. You can receive 20% off of any items that are $50 and up, use the code “FRIENDS”. This is an excellent opportunity to not only help out the environment, but also enrich the lives of the people who have made the beautiful creations. The second image is of a tagua pod, which contains about 20 tagua seeds, one of the materials the Andean Collection is based on. Enjoy the images and visit http://www.theandeancollection.com for a dose of natural and feel-good fashion.

These days it seems Eco Tourism is the most over used term in travel. Everyone wants to be part of the green movement, and sadly sometimes it is just to make money. Real Eco Tourism does not have to be about the glitz and glamour. First you probably want to know, what is Eco Tourism anyway? It is defined as responsible travel to natural areas where the conservation of the environment is prevalent and improves the welfare of its locals and visitors alike. This type of travel can also be included in; cultural tourism, sports adventures, hiking, green and sustainable travel, and many more terms. Confusing, I know.

With the help of former producers of MTV’s Real World and National Geographic Adventure my good friend Chris Abel has recently launched a pilot for a hiking show and it just might be the definition of Eco-tourism. The show revolves around two experienced hikers, Chris and his partner Blaire Carson. They hike and camp through various areas and discover what the nature and local areas have to offer. I have to admit, as much as I love the nature hiking has never been in my vocabulary. After going to their website and watching the first episode I was hooked. I might even go as far as explore small hiking trips myself. The show itself is not only educational but also very entertaining. They make a perfect team and each brings something different to the show. The name of their project is Tales From the Trails and if you love hiking and nature, you have to check out their website and videos www.talesfromthetrail.org
