Overlooking Hana Bay and historic Kauiki Hill, The Spa at Travaasa Hana is a one-of-a-kind indoor and outdoor wellness center with an earthy lava rock whirlpool, relaxation room, private garden area, steam room and cold plunge pool.
I saw nine treatment rooms featuring Hawaiian-style décor and florals, and therapists here utilize locally made and organic products. Services infuse therapeutic Native Hawaiian treatments with exercise as part of a holistic approach to relaxation and wellness. Massages, body treatments, facials, and energy balancing using the organic skin care line Amala, along with fitness offerings focusing on balance, posture, core strength and yoga.
Other aspects of the all-inclusive resort (and the oldest one on the island, circa 1946) sitting in the shadows of the volcano:
– Only resort in Hawaii to offer adults-only accommodations
– Only resort in Hawaii to offer throw net fishing and archery
– Rooms are free from clocks, radios, TV, internet and air conditioning
– Coastal horseback rides, bicycle tours, coconut husking, ukulele lessons and a tasting tour at Ono Organic Farms
If you’re going to spend quality time on the Hawaiian islands, don’t get stuck on the touristy hula lessons or the roasted pig at your neighborhood rip-off restaurant. Instead, take the rough road to Hana and simplify. Mahalo.
