Stray from the usual drinks this holiday season, and treat your guests to hip cocktails that are delicious and organic!
The Sixth Sense
This drink was created by The Rosewood Hotel Georgia‘s lead bartender, Brad Stanton, and will appear in their soon-to-open underground cocktail lounge, Prohibition.
1.5 ounces Schramm organic vodka
4-6 thin slices of organic cucumber
¾ ounces fresh organic lemon juice
½ ounces organic cane sugar syrup
Sprig of organic fennel
Combine all ingredients into a cocktail shaker tin. Add ice and shake vigorously until desired chill and dilution is achieved.
Strain through a fine mesh strainer into a tall glass filled with cracked ice. Add a splash of soda. Garnish with a sprig of organic fennel.
The Blood & Sand
“Blood and Sand is one of the few classic mixed drinks that includes Scotch,” says mixologist Charles Zeiler, at Royal Palms Resort and Spa, a Destination Hotel, in Scottsdale, AZ.
“It was named for Rudolph Valentino’s 1922 bullfighter movie Blood and Sand,” says Zeiler, who put his own spin on this version, below. “The red juice of the blood orange in the original drink helped link it with the film.”
3/4 ounces Famous Grouse Scotch
3/4 ounces Cocchi di Torino (sweet vermouth)
3/4 ounces Cherry Heering (or cherry brandy)
3/4 ounces Organic fresh-squeezed orange juice
Shake/strain into Martini glass.
