Holiday Cocktails and Cheers for All!
Mixing your holiday cocktails with USDA-certified organic spirits should make you feel a bit healthier as you indulge over the holidays. This season, we are raising our glasses to two elegant, seasonal organic cocktails that you and your guests are sure to enjoy.
The Merry Prairie, a sophisticated handcrafted cocktail from St. Louis mixologist Dustin Parres, and made exclusively for Prairie Organic Spirits will also provide you with a dose of vitamin C, thanks to the white cranberry juice. And the Prairie Pear Collins is a flavorful mix of sweet and savory, with pear puree, lemon juice and fresh rosemary.
The Merry Praire
2 oz Prairie Organic Vodka
2 oz White Cranberry Juice
2 oz Club Soda
¼ oz Mint Liqueur
3-5 Cranberry and mint infused Ice Cubes
Lemon Twist for Garnish
In a pint glass with regular ice, combine Prairie Organic Vodka, white cranberry juice, and mint liqueur. Shake and strain into pint glass of cranberry and mint ice cubes. Top with club soda. Garnish with a lemon twist.
For the ice cubes, simply place one cranberry and shredded mint leaves in an ice tray fill with water, and let freeze completely.
Prairie Pear Collins
1 ½ oz Prairie Organic Gin
1 1⁄2 oz pear purée
3⁄4 oz rosemary-clove simple syrup
3⁄4 oz lemon juice
Splash of soda water
Pear Puree
2 pears, peeled and pitted
1 ½ oz lemon juice
1 ½ tsp fresh rosemary
Rosemary-Clove Simple Syrup
½ cup sugar
½ cup water
1 oz whole cloves
3 sprigs rosemary
To make the pear purée, slice the pears and combine with lemon juice and rosemary in blender. Blend until smooth; strain mixture and discard any solids.
To make simple syrup, combine sugar, water, cloves and rosemary in sauce pan over low heat. When it reaches a boil, remove from heat and let sit 30 minutes. Strain into jar and store in refrigerator.
To make the cocktail, combine purée, syrup, lemon juice, and gin in a cocktail shaker over ice. Shake vigorously until chilled. Pour into a highball or rocks glass and top with splash of soda water. Garnish with pear slices.
